WHY LAWYERS, ACCOUNTANTS & CONSULTANTS REFER CASES TO US

WE STRICTLY RESPECT REFERRALS

For professionals referring cases to us, we strictly respect referrals, understand that this is your client you may be entrusting us with, and that your reputation is at stake as well as our own. We've successfully appeared on cases as high as the Supreme Court of Canada, and work throughout Canada to help professionals help their own clients.

WE WORK COLLABORATIVELY

We're scrupulous in maintaining contact and collaborating with referring professionals where desired. Retainers either with the client directly or with a referring professional are possible. Involvement of the referring professional to the degree s/he and the client desires in each case is encouraged, including having us solely provide an opinion on a case, drafting the pleadings to be argued by referring counsel, having a co-counsel relationship, or having us handle all steps of the case with the results reverting back to the referring professional.

PROFESSIONALS REFER CASES TO US FOR OUR BILINGUAL APPELLATE & TRIAL LITIGATION EXPERTISE

Professionals refer cases to us usually for the conduct of litigation including:

  • trial counsel referrals for appeals to the Court of Appeal for Ontario, Ontario Divisional Court, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Federal Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court of Canada on civil, family and criminal matters;

  • accountant referrals for proceedings before the Tax Court of Canada, Federal Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada;

  • solicitor referrals for trial litigation before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on business, estates and real property matters;

  • immigration lawyer & consultant referrals for proceedings before the Immigration and Refugee Board or Federal Court;

Professionals also refer cases to us where there is a requirement for bilingual French-English representation (perhaps because of French documents, witnesses testifying in French, or the other party proceeding in French). All the firm’s lawyers practice extensively in both French and English after having attended bilingual law schools. Three of the firms lawyers hold both civil law and common law degrees, and two of the lawyers completed all their legal studies in Quebec. All French and English nuanced language issues of a case will get the attention they deserve, including the conduct of witness examinations and cross-examinations without use of translators where appropriate, and preparation of appeal or other pleadings entirely in French if desired.
